Guidelines for
Establishing a Fund

The HOPE Foundation has more than 45 named funds that support
scholarships and local non-profit organizations. A fund may be named
in honor of the donor’s family, someone special, or in memory of a loved one.

Donor-advised fund ($5,000 and over): Donors recommend one or more charitable organizations, projects, or programs to receive distributions on a regular basis. You may choose how much and how often you’d like distributions to be made. Donors may suggest the same or different beneficiaries every year. Donors may add money over time to reach the endowment level, making the gift permanent.

Designated Fund ($10,000 and over): This fund will be distributed for a pre-determined number of years to a designated charity. If there is a balance remaining at the end of the number of years established it will be retained or distributed for charitable purposes decided by the HOPE Board of Trustees.

Endowment Fund ($25,000 and over): Each year, 5% of the balance of this fund is distributed to beneficiaries that are recommended by the donor. The donor may specify a grant to a certain charity, a scholarship to a Darke County student, or an unrestricted grant where HOPE’s board determines where the funds could best be used in the county. Because grants are distributed primarily from investment earnings of this account, your gift keeps giving in perpetuity.
