In 2012, the HOPE Foundation awarded approximately $75,000 to 61 graduates of Darke County high schools. Every effort is made to award at least one scholarship to each school district.
Seniors who attend a Darke County high school or are home-schooled may apply for a HOPE Foundation scholarship. You can read about each scholarship in the List of Funds link of this website. The deadline to submit applications is April 1, 2013. One application allows you to be considered for all categories of HOPE high school scholarships. Some scholarships, but not all, consider student’s financial need . Other considerations include grade point average, ACT score, activities and essay.
The HOPE Foundation uses a reimbursement method of awarding scholarships. Potential recipients will be announced at the high school graduation or awards program. Scholarship money will be disbursed following the student’s first semester (or quarter) in college, providing the student earns at least a 2.75 grade point average in that semester. The HOPE Foundation will request the student’s first semester (or quarter) college transcript and will issue a check upon receipt of satisfactory transcript.
Several scholarships are also available for students who are out of high school. These scholarships are designated for students studying law, healthcare, business or a technical vocation. Because these scholarships are offered on an irregular schedule, please call the HOPE office before applying.
