in 1986, the HOPE Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality
of life in Darke County by receiving, managing and distributing
charitable gifts. HOPE (Helping Other People Excel)
is a community foundation, which means that donors make gifts
or bequests of any size for the benefit of our local community.
The HOPE Foundation provides support in areas such as education,
the arts, social services, community projects, conservation
and animal welfare. All grants are awarded to Darke County residents
or non-profit organizations, making the HOPE Foundation one
of our county’s major resources for charitable funds.
Through generous donations by individuals, businesses, and charitable
organizations, the HOPE Foundation establishes investment funds
that are professionally managed. The income from these funds
is used to make charitable grants to students and non-profit
organizations in Darke County. Invested long-term, these funds
provide a continuing source of funding to worthwhile causes
for years to come.
Donors may recommend the purpose for which their contributions
are to be used, or may leave the choice to the foundation. Whatever
the purpose, each gift receives maximum tax benefits. By setting
up a fund or supporting an existing one, donors create lasting
legacies for programs in which they strongly believe.
